Glocknewbie
Next question. After shooting 300 rounds or so, I get a blister on my joint where my thumb joins the hand. This is the impact of the top undercurve of the Glock 19 hitting my hand after firing. Does this indicate a technique problem, or is it to be expected after 300 rounds? Any long-term joint damage issue I should worry about? What, if anything to do about it?
A33435
Don't worry. Welcome to the club of glock shooters. When i only shot my G34 with rather soft loads (PF135)the blister where your thumb joins the hand was the first thing to appaer. Later on when i started shooting the G35 with major loads i also started to get a blister left at the middle knuckle of the finger next to the indexvinger. There where your finger touches the triggerguard. If you shoot a lot the blisters will eventualy go away and your skin becomes rough. No problem Greetings Adrie
Glocknewbie
Thanks. Now that I know there is nothing wrong, I will recognize my fellow Glock shooters by the secret handshake and the roughened skin on the top of the thumb joint. Sidetracker
I also get this with my Springfield Armory XD-9. At first I thought I was getting "bit" by the slide, but after looking at my grip I realized it was just an abrasion.
skeeter
the only blister i've ever gotten is on my thump form loading mags. seems to me that your not holding the gun tight enough and the movement is causeing the blisters.
A33435
Skeeter, that blister on your thumb was before you discovered those little helpfull devices that makes it so easy to load magazines? A blister on your skin is caused by friction. When your not used to particular handlings, e.g. when your a (glock)newbie, blisters shall occur easier or earlier. Last time i had a blister was after producing 3000+ .40 rounds on the SDB. Greetings Adrie
Duane Thomas
The shape of the Glock grip/trigger guard'll get you somewhere. For me it was the top of the middle finger knuckle where it touches the underside of the trigger guard. When I shot a Glock extensively I had a nice thick callous built up there.
