Jediwarrior
Has anyone have any issues using a CMC Shooting Star 8-round 45 Auto magazine on a single-stack with a ramped barrel? I've seen one where the lower part of the follower gets caught between the barrel and frame after firing the last round. Severe damage to the frame and the follower would result, aside from the failure to hold open.
Joe D
Not being a smart a**, but why would anyone want a 45 with a ramped barrel in the first place? I use these in some of my mags. https://www.dawsonprecision.com/ProductDetail.jsp?LISTID=80001137-1388518299 I use those in ACT and Metalform mags. ChuckS
I gave up on CMC mags, or more correctly, the metal followers. Sooner or later, they would rock forwardand keep the mag from dropping free. I switched to Wilsons and that eliminated the problem. Choose a mag that the follower can not move fore and aft. Ramped .45??? Was the gun previously a different caliber? Jediwarrior
Some single-stack 45 pistols come with ramped barrels, such as the SVI Infinity, and Kimber aluminium-framed pistols. I recommend non-ramped on the single stack 45 for most builds, but some customers insist on using ramped. I then tested a new build and experienced this damage on the frame and follower. So now, I have to tell the owner not to use CMC magazines.
