biscuit
Hopefully this isn't to newbie of a question but I kinda am, what role does the baseplate serve that I need to get Springer or someone else baseplates to replace factory baseplates. I did buy the springers but that was just taking advice besides using it to extend your mag why? I would like to understand the mechanics of it as mags for my sp01 have been a bad issue lately, nose-down issues. I have bought nickel mags and +10 springs now no issues so far. Quack
The longer base pads assist in seat the mag, as opposed to the flush fitting mags, especially if you have large meaty hands. The ~0.5oz additional weight also helps them drop easier. Lastly, the alloy pads are more durable.
JGus
I have basepads from Springer and Stoeger Pro Shop. Both are great. For me it was a question of durability. Nothing like kicking, stepping on, and dropping the mags on gravel, sand, concrete, etc to break a plastic basepad.
