RIPsaw475
It was called the MONSTER MATCH in past years and still may be? The idea and control was just offered to the Bench Rest Rifle Club match coordinaters of the IDPA, USPSA, and 3gun events. The FAMILY of members that used to organize it has done a fantastic job with it and has given thousands to the USO of Missouri. They are no longer able to run the event and my friends, the match directors, are looking for any sort of help to make these events HUGE! The details, ideas, and volunteers are just starting to progress. In the past it was five stages with a MINIMUM round count of 50 rounds per stage with steel and two hits on paper all under a stage par time. Sounds fun right? Fun and charity is the focus here. As the details and *sponsors roll in, I will share the info or start another thread. This is just a heads up to all the shooters of Missouri and surrounding states to keep the end of October open to do something good with your pistol for someone else. I know we don't have a lot of time, but this first year will be a template for many years to come. Thank you for taking the time to read this. *Sponsors and volunteers are needed. Still working out the details as stated above. Rough draft: Stage sponsors in various levels. Silver, Gold, Platinum levels etc. Raffle items Silent Auctions Prize table Awards

tbarker13
Been to a few of these. Always a blast. Hate to miss it, but that's the same day as our regular USPSA match across town at ARPC.
RIPsaw475
You shouldn't miss it, happens once a year. You can shoot a regular USPSA match every month, hell every weekend there is one 60-90min or less around St.louis area. These are basically oversized 50 round count or better USPSA courses of fire anyway. Same equipment, two on paper, shoot 'em as they become visible, run and gun fun. All in the name of charity! Help the people that help our troops that help us be MURICA!
RIPsaw475
There will be a prize table, it will be random raffle draw. Not placement based so the emphasis is FUN and charitable. Paper placement awards will be provided to gauge improvement when you come back next year I will try and list random draw prizes as they become available, but it is not what you take home and try and sell on here, it's about giving back through the hobby/sport that gives you fulfilment, challenge, and or release on the weekends. LikesToShoot
I was going to shoot the ARPC USPSA match but I'm really drawn to your cause. I've shot this match a couple times in the past and really like the hosier stages that are available. Any chance you could add a Pistol Caliber Carbine division to your scoring? If not, no worries and I'm glad to see BRRC supporting our troops, I know they are in the hearts of your club. Thank you for your efforts! Hopefully bring a buddy or two to join in the hosiery. The template now for divisions mimic the USPSA. Open, limited, production, single stack and revoler. Pre register starts tomorrow. Our hearts are definitely in it for the soldiers, USO, and our shooters. We want this to succeed this year and many years to come. RIPsaw475
That's great! Thanks for getting on board and bringing friends. Thats a big part of it. Having a good time with good people, doing good thing's for great people. Looking forward to the match as well. I am just a small cog in the machine behind the fundraising match. But a great cause indeed!
LikesToShoot
Looks like the good friends from Columbia, MO have jumped on board. It'll be good to see those fine folks again. LikesToShoot
IIRC, In the past there's a field course to run through with a par time. Once you hit the par time you're done and then the misses are tallied. Here's Diana at last years match. A couple years ago: And here's another view point of the 2012 cancer charity match. RIPsaw475
Thanks for your help on this LikesToShoot, much appreciated. Glad the Columbians are coming. A couple buddies and I shot out at Green Valley in June. The "movers" from the Bianchi cup were incorporated in a stage. Very cool. Each stage has a specific par time. Two on paper anywhere is 10 points and steel is 10pts. The most points per division wins. The par time is generally set up for an A class or better Olympic sprinter on Cocaine. It is unlikely you will max out every stage, but not impossible to come close. Stage props, suspended bridges, peek a boo texas stars, etc. all play a factor. All done in a safe manner of course. Fun is the emphasis and hosing targets is just a side perk. Although, in the event of a tie, there is a shoot off.

LikesToShoot
Sounds awesome!!! I wish I wasnt so far away (west central wi) a great outfit to support as wellYup, too bad it's so far for you to make it. It is a very long way for basically a Level 1 type event, but with a great cause. Locally, the area shooters are focused on the historic Fall Classic at COPS in Rolla then followed by the Il. Sectional. No question, two great events that I just can't fit into my schedule. Lucky for me, this year I will get to join in on the hosefest that BenchrestSTL has long been a supporter of. http://shootingstl.com/drupal/
LikesToShoot
A little over two weeks away and there are only approx. 30 shooters squaded. The largest group is coming from Green Valley, they also shot Fall Classic last weekend and are at the Il. Sectional this weekend. Way to go Green Valley! RIPsaw475
Well it was a success. Thanks to all who came. We had *67 shooters and 67 door prizes. We raffled off an M&P 9mm with a custom trigger job from an amazing local smith. The event ran smooth, and the shooters all had smiles. The best part was every single dime of the $6,000 dollars we raised from the event and our sponsers went to the USO of Missouri! Check out the Facebook page to see some of the pics, shooter videos, and any other information to get you there next year. LikesToShoot
This was a really fun match, thanks for putting it together. Match details: Six squads with pretty much an even number of shooters on each. First shots a little after 10:00 AM. All squads stopped for lunch break after three stages and resumed after that. Our squad, #1, was done a little before 3:00 PM and we broke down our final stage once the MD gave the OK. Match flow was real smooth, didn't feel rushed nor bottle necked. Honestly I was pleasantly surprised on how quickly this match ran. When I seen the early squad list with a 20 shooter squad and others with much less I thought we were doomed. The MD's made adjustments where needed, cut the par times and things moved real quick. Results are here: http://www.rlft.us/ A couple of videos have been posted on You Tube. "BRRC Monster Match 2014", filter it down to; past week or month.
RIPsaw475
Thank you for coming and for the kind input. It was our first year taking over the responsibility of the Monster Match and definitely a template for the next one. The match directors are from opposite ends of the spectrum and "gel" incredibly well together, especially under the crunch. Two good guys that I am very happy to call friends. RIPsaw475
Were back!!! October 25th, 2015 mark the date! $6,000.00 and all of it went to the Missouri USO last year! Monster Match had over 70 shooters last year! We gave away an M&P 9mm with a competition trigger job from a local smith and sponsor Kelly Firearms and Dr. Tysen Petre D.O. Giant range bags donated by MIDWAY USA, gift certificates from Xtreme bullets, Asymmetric Solutions, Tarren Tactical, Dawson Precision, Target Barn, Webber tactical, Hornady, Ultimate Defense indoor range and training facility, I.C.E training, Elite survival, Sams Club, Wright City meats, Real life firearms training and H&H guns!!! We need all the above things mentioned to grow exponentially and raise the bar for the next year and years to come. We need sponsors, donations, shooters and people that want to do good things for a good cause! Edited May 20, 2015 by RIPsaw475
