45acp small primer

There was one batch of PMC .45 acp made something like 20 years ago, with small pistol primers, for no good reason. Everybody scratched their head.

Right after the .45 acp non-toxic small primer brass appeared I heard the swithc was caused by breech face damage that resulted from large pistol non-toxic primers.

A pox on whoever started crimping .45 and .40 brass.

Last time I sorted and tried to load 45 SPP brass, it was almost all crimped and impossible to load.

love the fact I don't have to change primer cups from large to small on my Dillon press, wait two weeks to find large primers ,

Why dose a 6.5x47 lapua use srp and a 6.5 creedmoor use Lrp.

I can tell you that I hate loading and I get to a spp 45.

You would probably have to ask the designers of the two cases mentioned to ascertain why they chose the primer size that they used.

The sole purpose of the small primer is to mess up my rhythm when reloading 45s. One small primer in the batch brings my Dillon to a crawl...
