D.Hayden
Anyone know how hot the Gas block gets For now.. until it's replaced next month, I have a JP Aluminum JPGS-1, that has the Picatinny rail on it Wondering if I could mount a small Crimson Trace laser right on that.. or if it gets too hot? Thanks, Dave

BBJones
So if you feel comfortable putting it in the oven for a few minutes you should be OK mounting it to your gas block.

openclassterror
Magpul specifically states NOT to mount the MBUS front sight on a gas block because the heat distorts the plastic. Also, aluminum is a really good conductor of heat, so it will transfer the heat to any type of mount very effectively. Kydex plastic used for holsters and such forms at 325 deg, so the gas block seems too hot for attaching anything with plastic in it.
JBOT5000
I would never mount plastic to a gas block if you plan on getting after it hard. It can get crazy hot especially where i live when temps already reach a 100 in the summer. If you are just going to shoot three round groups then walk to your target you'll be fine if your going to empty two to three mags back to back don't do it. Gas blocks are for iron sights pretty much.
