emielvanputten
hello everyone. I use a glock 34 gen 4 for ipsc minor. This year, it wants to convert the weapon major 9mm This I have some questions, specifically addressing barrel and compensator. but first introduce my weapon. Minor Setup Glock 34, bought new 3 years ago http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rBM0CNHe3UU Zev Magwell Zev fulcrum trigger Zev firing pin Zev safety plunger Zev extended magazine releas wolf guiderod +10 pound spring frame stippling, ondercut trigger guard finger grooves removed. glock 17 barrel, 95mm long +60mm steel inc porting Leupold delta recessed into the slide arredondo magazine extenders Major setup. This is the plan for the major switch. SJC micro mount for mounting the Leupold SJC frameweigh SJC thumb rest on the mount or the frame weight SJC 11 major port compensator (if not working on factory ammo maby the 5 port comp) glockstore.com shorthorn slide pull charging handle glock 17l barrel (must be adjusted and fitted with thread) or igb 34 threaded. This is the idea, and actually only one thing is holding me down at this stage. I would also shoot my factory ammo once a year (s&b 124 FMJ) just to keep up my clean brass stock. 100kg brass all 9mm at this moment. so next year is not the problem. is there anyone with a similar kind of setup 11 port comp or 5 port comp sjc that can confirm this and wants to share his experiences here Edited March 30, 2014 by emielvanputten
Kraj
If you don't reload I don't think your going to find 9 major ammo. Unless you buy it from someone reloading just for that. If your shooting factory I would go with a a small comp.
A-shot
I've shot a glock at major, not all the time, but I've done it. I prefer 38sc over 9 major, that's just me. Major 9mm open glocks are typically built on a g17 with a 5 or 11 port comp, and the ammo is hot hot reloads. You will not find 9 major factory ammo. I don't think that frame weight is as important as your dot not moving with the slide. You have to look at sjcs full frame mounts, and do something more permanent on a smaller slide. I've gone through it all with glocks, anything can be done, but that doesn't mean you should do it.
emielvanputten
I'm going to reload, I do this with the normal factory shells that I have currently in stock, but since the view is that the weapon will not work with factory ammo. I will make a new of stock by then. the SJC mount, will come on the frame, I'm still waiting for an answer from sjc,. if it makes a difference linking the micro mount to the frameweight
sweetback
It all sounds good the way you are going to set it up. Going with the frame weight and thumb rest will do a lot to make MAJOR load shoot flatter and absorb felt recoil. I would also recommend SJC heavy brass mag well, and TAYLORFREELANCE brass +5 mag extensions for more weight when using 140mm magazines. emielvanputten
i keep the taylorfreelance in my mind. love them, but then i bought the arrondorndodndndndn ???????????????????? barrel choice will probably fall on IGB. this by an entirely supported chamber. and the lack of other brands in Europe / Netherlands Edited April 2, 2014 by emielvanputten
LilBunniFuFu
Your setup sounds about right, the longer barrel should help you make major easier so you could tune the load to your gun. Why are you adding the frame weight though? If your comp is working the right way then you shouldn't need the weight to absorb the recoil and you would have less mass to move for transitions. Good luck finding all of your parts over there.
Parallax3D
If you're going to shoot 9mm Major, I would get a good barrel with full chamber support from KKM or Wolf.
emielvanputten
@paralax. i agree. but in the netherlands is no kkm or wolf to buy. only igb 34 thread, or al 17l barrel. update how about storm lake in 9 mm major. maby i can get this Edited April 4, 2014 by emielvanputten
LilBunniFuFu
A stormlake barrel will do just fine.
