The Donald
What is the best orientation to time a Rolling Thunder comp? Thanks Don
bagdrag
AFAIK, top port perfectly vertical is best. You tune the RT by drilling a side port to the size needed for neutral muzzle movement. You don't tune it via timing/clocking.
Classic_jon
I would suggest setting it on vertically and see how it shoots first and then decide form there. On my rifle it is vertical and I found no need to clock it or change anything from stock. If you want to clock it, get a different sized crush washer or add a peel washer and then clock it that way. Past that Here is a "how to" from Jesse Tischauser off of brownells website if you feel frisky with a drill.http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/lid=14873/guntechdetail/Custom-Tuning-the-Rolling-Thunder-Compensator
Durtywrench
I didn't need to clock my rolling thunder after following Jesse's how to. Just went up in drill sizes till I saw minimal muzzle climb vertically and horizontally.
Bullittmcqueen
Yep, follow Jessie's instructions. Easy as pie.
Jesse Tischauser
Benny Hill told me how to tune his comp I just write it down on a forum and my buddy Larry Weeks at Brownells asked if he they could use it. It's super easy and a pretty cool experiment.
