  1. Careful with the inner diameter on those rails. Several of us ran those for a season and the SLR gas blocks were contacting the inside of the rails rendering them non-free floating. I switched to a different rail system because of this. Bullitt, do you have a hanguard that is similiar that you would recommend? Or is there an adjustable low profile gas block that would work with the SOLO? If you are set on the Solo rail, a set screw SLR sentry will fit underneath just fine but is only compatible with the Melonite stretch-16, all the cerakoted versions do not fit a set screw gas block due to the added thickness from the cerakoted. Grinding the screws on a clamp on sentry-7 is an option as well. As far as rails, I have gone back to a Noveske NSR about 5 times now, it's a little heavier than a lot of the newer rails but it's simple and works. I also have an ALG EMR and it's a fine rail as well but even heavier. Neither have clearance issues with the gas block.

  3. Regarding your barrel choice between the 3 versions of the Stretch-16, accuracy will be the same across all versions, fluted version will be slightly lighter (3 ounces lighter). Other than that it would be your preference of color/coating and if you want melonite coating. The stretch-16 does not require an adjustable gas block and you will receive lots of opinions on whether or not they are necessary, but in my humble opinion the gas system really shines if you can tune down the gas. Regarding JP silent capture spring, I ran one of those for the past 2 years with my 3-gun rifles. Flawlessly, no malfunctions, but it is heavy and the extra spring pak is unnecessary. This year I changed my buffer system to a JP extra power tuned spring with the TACCOM light weight buffer system, which is MUCH cheaper as a whole system and lighter as well, and I am happy I made the swap. Just something to think about. Otherwise my operating system on my rifles is exactly like yours.
  4. reticle.JPG Did not know the reticle had changed. The new one looks much better.
  5. Its a good starter scope and the drop reticle was dead on for me, but the outer circular lines are just too thick.
  6. Lighter buffer would be better. I currently run the taccom plastic buffer with the same setup. Are you having cycling issues?
  7. No break in period required. The barrels are hand-lapped. Just assemble, lube, and shoot.
  8. Nope, I live in Texas so there's no restriction. I'm on a tac team and need a device that directs as much of the blast and concussion forward. I could put one on if I wanted to but don't want the guy shooting next to me to be hindered in any way. I swear some of those brakes have rattled some of my fillings loose having to shoot so close to them. Consider a Battlecomp or the Noveske KX-5 Pig. The pig will definitely push the concusion forward but will look a little ugly on the end of a 16" barrel. I've had great results with my Battlecomp and its not nearly as abrasive as a typical muzzle brake.
  9. Use the standard spring that comes installed on the JPSC. Thats the combo I've used for the past 2 years. No malfunctions.
  10. Freedom Munitions is as affordable as any other brass cased ammo, strongly supports the shooting sports, and always runs discounts and promotions. Right now they are running a free shipping promotion for the halloween holiday. They have 69g and 77smk if i recall correctly.
  11. I think you would be suprised how good the ALG triggers feel. I certainly wouldnt lump them in with the "mil-spec" triggers group. Another vote for CMC triggers if you want a quick install and good quality-for-money ratio.
  12. I would guess that as you get more serious about 3-gun, you're gonna want to shoot heavier loads at those distances, wind or not. Just for reference, my Stretch's love 69g Nosler OTM's, but still shoot well with 75g and 77g. Drew has some really good results with 77g SMK's.
  13. Shotgun. Always the shotgun.

  14. Mark I would echo the BCM gunfighter comp recommendation or a battlecomp. They both do a decent job of taming some of the muzzle flash and concussion. Last I heard, they have the BCM's at ACE in Evans.
  15. Have you done anything to the trigger group? I.e. Replace springs?
  16. I love my BAD short throw selector. It works perfectly for 3-gun.
  17. Drill holes in my double-alpha and smoothed them out with a soldering iron. Works like a charm with the ELS clips. I didnt like the safariland belt because yes it was too flimsy. When I would reach down to rip out a quad, it would rock the entire belt up and down about 6 inches.
  18. This SG would be used almost exclusively for 3G (about 1 match a month). My budget is about $1500 and I don't mind spending more to "buy once, cry once". Dude, with that budget, a TTI or Accurate Iron M2 has your name all over it.
  19. Out of your two choices, Benelli M2. The Browning A5 is also a good option, its becoming more popular. The Beretta would be behind all those in my opinion because of the shell release lever.
  20. There are a lot of fancy, expensive stocks out there now, but I've not found anything to make me get rid of my CTR yet. For me it's just perfect. No wiggle either.
  21. I think 24 is just about perfect, and that's what I use. Some are moving to 26 since it more closely matches the typical 12 round tubes that most people are using now.
