Kimbertarget
I had my pins and a set of E.B. t-10 torx fasteners NITRE BLUE treated and just after a few disassemblies the pin for my MSH has completely worn through the blue finish. It is a deep blue not the straw or purple color so it was left in the salt peter long enough it seems. Besides using carbon steel is there any criteria to make the pins keep their nitre blue finish longer? Does anyone here have nitre blue pins and what type of punch besides brass do you use to keep tham from marring the finish? I cant get a good pic with my cell hone camera so here is an heirloom stock photo: Edited January 21, 2014 by Kimbertarget
jcc7x7
Thats kind of a SHOW GUN finish. and you might try nylon drifts/punches. but that will still wear the finish. Also you may not have to detail strip the pistol each time you clean. You may not be but I don't disassmemble any more than needed. Brownells has roll pin punches that are domed and they may helf if they fit the pin. BUT I think you need to run a plain MSH pin if your gonna pull it apart alot My opinion They sure look real nice though
