socom308
I'm looking at putting a magwell on my M&P .45 for use in IDPA's CDP div. and USPSA's Limited 10. I'm considering one of the units sold by Speed Shooters Specialties and they offer them in either material. Has anyone here any experience with either unit on the M&P? I was thinking of going with the aluminum unit just because I prefer to keep the gun as light as possible but would consider the additional weight of steel to dampen some of the recoil. Any thoughts? wgj3
Definitely the steel version at a minimum. I have a couple of the brass models for limited and 3gun.
Forrest Halley
Steel. Realize you're in it for new base pads also. The factory do not fit when used with that magazine well.
Woodsk
And the base pads will need the old "round hole" retaining plate. I have the steel mag well on my M&P40 Pro but have not weighed it with the SSS basepads yet. as of Oct 1st you can go up to 43oz
socom308
Thanks for the feedback guys. I think I will take the advise here and go steel. This is my first magwell of any kind and so it should be interesting. The SSS base pads are selling for $25. ea right now so I'll have to scrape together some green first. BillR1
I have an aluminum magwell on my ESP gun. I like it fine, but wish I'd ordered steel for the weight.
