Chuckie45
I need to cut back a 6 inch barrel to 5.5 on a 1911. Best method and tools needed? Thanks.
StraightUp_OG
Mill and a Lathe. Mill will most likely do it and this should be in gunsmithing not reloading. Edited August 27, 2013 by StraightUp_OG
ormondopen
Mill or hacksaw then a crowning tool. Edited August 27, 2013 by ormondopen
a.roberts
Lathe is probably the best way. Cut it back and crown it with one set-up.

Chuckie45
My mistake on the Thread, they both start with "general" and I'm trigger happy. With out a mill/lathe, I'll think I'll ruff cut it like kneelingatles did, but then reface and crown with a 90% facing and 11% crowning tools from brownells. Wish me luck.
