Gents,

I just picked up a Mossad.

I want to have front sight cut made and replace front and rear sights.

Question is what are my options, what type of front sight cut to do and what brand of sights to install?

Btw, front sight is as wide as rear sight notch and its silver. Very hard to get a sight picture.

Mishka,

I picked up a similar Mossad from Gary. The front sight is definitely not the best. Have you shot yours yet? Mine shoots at least 8 inches low at 25 yds. I am planning on milling off the front sight and doing a Novak dovetail. There are a lot of sight options with that profile. I hear the slide is super hard. I plan to try it anyway. I am debating an adjustable sight for the rear also. Mine was very dirty and I had to replace the recoil spring. It runs great now and after polishing and a 14# hammer spring I really like it.

What # recoil spring did you install?

Where did you order your recoil/hammer springs from?

Any light strikes with 14# hammer spring and factory ammo?

Mine was pretty dirty inside as well. I detail stripped it last night and gave it thorough cleaning. Will go to the range this weekend to see how it runs before polishing internals and changing out springs.

Mishka,

I ordered springs directly from Wolff. They have a nice web site, shipping was reasonable and fast. I also forgot to order some springs for my G35 and sent an e-mail on Sunday to correct it. By 8:30 Monday morning they sent a reply and had everything in the mail by noon. I have not had a light strike yet with the 14# hammer spring. I have only shot some WWB and handloads with Winchester SPP.

Atlas,

If I decide to install a adjustable rear the Mossad sight is yours. Did you say that your drilled and tapped a Mossad frame and it was Uber hard? Any idea how hard the slide is? I want to change the front sight first and then tackle the rear.

Yes, I have a bech top mill. It is an older round column mill. I may try to trim the current sight down to shift the POI and get a feel for how hard it is. My mill isn't as rigid as a Bridgeport so I have to improvise sometimes. I probably won't tackle this project til Fall/Winter. I have too many other irons in the fire right now. I will keep you all posted.

Not to hijack, but is that the Jericho with the frame mounted safety? Where did you find it?

You might want to try selling your top end first, then buying a slide with the cut you want.
