BHill
Hi everyone, I am a relatively new shooter and shoot both USPSA and IDPA. WhenI remove the little piece of skate board tape I use as a thumb tab for my weak hand to be legal in production how clean must I get the gun afterwards to be legal? I rubbed it with a rag but didn't have any solvent so it was still sticky. Would that be legal by the rules or should I have hunted up some solvent to remove the residue? Just a local match but I still want to abide by the rules. Thanks Brandon
kevin c
Technically, since it is sticky, it can confer and advantage grip wise, so I think it would be best to get it off prior to going to a level II match or above (also would apply to level I, but I doubt that anybody is going to check or object). BHill
Thanks Kevin, That is how I was thinking it would go and will make sure of it in the future prior to arriving at the match. Just looking for verification I guess. BR Brandon
kmca
What do you mean, you don't have any solvent? Ordinary oil will usually take off the adhesive residue.
BHill
Didn't have any at the range at the time. Won't be happening again as both range bages have cleaning gear. Thanks
vluc
Get some alcohol wipes in the little packages at the drug store, keep some in your range back. Good to remove adhesive.
BHill
That is a good idea as well but in the end I think I will just leave the thumb pad off and shoot the same in both orginazations. Probably better in the long run.
