dskinsler83
I'd say 70-80 grit for a good aggressive grip
sheepdog566
I just did my first silicon carbide texture. Used jb weld and 80 grit that I picked up on eBay. I wouldn't go anything finer than the 80 grit.
Tyro Shooter
it's been our experience that the larger Silicone Carbide grits seem to fall off a bit to easily after you start to get really aggressive with your gun when you only do normal prep. (and by aggressive i mean doors, walls, Props & other shooters passing in close proximity, as well as a few thousand presentations) the key to getting any coating to stick is PREP and the correct bonding agent.(high temperature resistant, flexible, min 70-90 psi surface grip bond, resistant to all common gun cleaning solvents (especially ones with a high concentrations of Methyl Ethyl Bad Shit) Done right it will last for years, done incorrectly and after a month or two your grip looks like it has the mange. our most aggressive grip we do is "The Cage Fighter" (thank you to Mr Casanova) It is about a 40-50 grade grit, It will hurt, It will leave a mark, You will bleed And . . .Your gun will never fall out of your hand.
