perrysho
On the powder burn rate speed chart, via Hodgdon. #24 - VVN320 #18 - WST #14 - Titegroup #29 - Winchester 231 #25 - Accurate Arms No.2 is almost the same as VVN320 The question is akin to asking drunk sailers what kind if beer they like, LOL. lcs
Ramshot Competition is excellent for 40. Not so good for 9 minor.

BBQDawg
Which of the suggested substitutes would be best for 9mm and .45acp? Also, I'm a newbie and people say Clays. I look and find I can't remember how many different powders that have Clays in the name. Which one would I need for the calibers mentioned? Jaxshooter
The Clays they are referring to for 45ACP is plain CLAYS. I have used nothing but Clays in 45 for years it is very consistent and clean. Can't speak to the use in 9 mm as I have never tried it.
CeeZer
I too like plain Clays quite a fair bit, will be loading 9mm Minor with it exclusively, after testing it over 6lbs 'burned'. Just don't load 147gr bullets with it to be on safe side, pressure may get quite high then. On top of it being often available in 8lb jugs at good prices, burning reasonably clean, producing accurate ammo, giving soft recoil and low flash, it also requires low powder charges per round, so you can stretch 1lb further, should be good for about 1800rds. Ammo (9mm Minor) loaded to same PF with Clays vs TG, my observations: Clays is a bit softer; queiter; less flash; 'cooler' burning; about 9% less powder charge with Clays. NinerRider
231 or Clays is always my go to after 320.
Jaxshooter
Has anybody tried Ramshot Competition for 38 super minor loads?
