Wanted
I have a problem with my shell plate on my 550. When you thumb the star to rotate, the shell plate will turn freely For a couple of turns then stick and you have to force it. Like its rubbing the main plate it goes in. No matter how loose the shell plate bolt is.
CZinSC
Sounds like the shellplate bolt set screw is either missing or loose. You need to pull the handle down a few inches, and then look on the left side of the ram. There is a hole there for the shellplate bolt set screw. After you've adjusted the shellplate bolt, this screw needs to be tightened to the bolt doesnt move when you turn the star.
Wanted
The set screw is good. Problem is that I can't adjust shell plate. Its as if the part that the plate sits on is warped. I suspected the ball plunger that the plate sits on. I cleaned it out also.
Arlin
Wanted: Check to see if the star is rubbing on the cartridge ejector. I have had this happen before, Arlin
Wanted
Thanks, don't know how I missed it. The ejector wire was slightly bent up. Thanks
BBeavers
I've had the bottom of the star gall in spots. It drug on the shell plate in one spot. Filed it down and polished w/ Dremel and it smoothed it out.
