PractiScore - Mixing Platforms - Nooks and iPad

Disregard. Looks like Bill Noyes has been doing this for a while. See quote below.

Our club has been using PractiScore on Nooks for a while and we have a wireless router to handle inter-device traffic. We have always designated one of the Nooks as the "Master". We will be running the Michigan Sectional in August and all of our Nooks will be required on the stages.

Can an iPad be used as a Master and sync with Nooks which will be used on the stages?

Sorry if this has already been asked and answered.

Thanks,

BC

Yeah, but for any decent-sized match, you want the master to be an apple ios device, simply because that variety of practiscore can reach out over the wifi network and find all the nooks without you having to tap in device codes. The Android version for some reason still can't do that. You want to be able to just reach out and grab scores from the stages without interrupting the conduct of the stages themselves.

ipad is preferred as the master since it does not require you to know the ids of the other devices... we only use ios but, yes, ipad should be your master!

Do the devices have to be at a specific version level? If so, what version(s) play well with each other? Anybody using Nooks and iPads please chime in as the Nooks are about to get an update and the iPad is current at version 1.5.8.

Thanks,

BC

1.5.8 on iOS is the current version, and it's fine. The android version is 1.1.1, and it's claim to fame is support for IDPA. if you need IDPA, then you need to goto 1.1.1. Otherwise, I'm currently at 1.0.15, which was the last known stable version before 1.1.

Update: 1.1.2 for android is out. It specifically fixes the numeric keyboard problem when entering the time on a stage, that was caused by the B&N 1.2.1 firmware update. If you weren't running a nook that has that firmware maintenance level, then you probably weren't experiencing the problem.
