Nimitz
I purchased a couple of 13 # ISMI recoil springs a couple of weeks ago to swap out for my current 13 # spring on my G34 since it's got about 15,000 rds on it. However, when I put it up against my current spring it was a full 1/2" longer. I rechecked the pkg on my current spring and it says 13 # ISMI spring. The ones I just bought also say 13 # spring. anyway to tell which is the real one? Can I count coils?
rjstubbl
The old spring is getting worn out and loosing its elasticity. I have ran into that as well.
Nimitz
So it gets shorter as it loses it's elasticity?
practical_man
That's my experience. As springs get worn out they get compressed and take a set. Not exactly losing elasticity, but sort of.

sdrr72
My 13# springs after several thousand rounds are about the length of an 11# spring. At that point, I start getting failures to return to battery.

dlp40cal
just to ask have you tried a 11# spring if so what did it do
Nimitz
I have not, when I was changing out everthing to lighten my trigger pull and match everything to my load most people suggested going with a 13# spring. I liked how everything felt so didn't see the need to try anything else ... I have the 4lb striker spring, skeletized striker and reduced power safety plunger spring plus the Zev custom deluxe trigger kit. It was recommended to go with the 13# spring for that setup ... what would happen if I moved to an 11# spring?
