  1. I like the TandemKross Hive for competition. I have one 'fun' pistol with Hive and one with Hogue. If I shot it a lot, I'd splurge for the Hive.
  2. Thank you everyone for the replies. My bolt is an eBay buy directly from VQ that came preinstalled with their pin and extractor (pro-tip: add it to your wish list and wait a week or two, they offered me 10% off which made it almost the same price as the pin and extractor alone). I did not disassemble to check, but I hope that is not an issue. After using the TandemKross chambermaid, my issues largely went away. I am using exclusively for competition CCI coated high velocity, so I hope ammo is not the issue. My failures went WAY down after the chambermaid. Not perfect, but hey, this is rimfire... Shout out to TandemKross. I have mostly their parts in two 22/45's, and they have really good stuff. Trigger packs are exceptional. And if you are in competition, the Halo ring is the best.
  3. I've loaded a low as 2.8g TG with 180g Bayou Bullets for a Glock with KKM barrel. You need a 13# spring and a very stiff wrist to keep the gun cycling properly. But it can work. This load made minor in my G35. (about 128)
  4. Have a brand new Mk4 22/45 Lite. Bolt has Volquartsen extractor and firing pin. I bought a spare bolt off Ebay from them with those parts preinstalled. It was only $10 more than the parts alone, so I figured why not. First trip to range to sight in red dot, I fired roughly 150 rounds with no trouble at all. CCI high velocity coated ammo, recently purchased. After that, I started having failures to extract fired cases. Almost always the first case fired would stick in chamber. Cycling the bolt would clear it, and I never had a case stick in the chamber when manually cycling the bolt. Manually cycling the bolt threw the fired casing with authority, making me feel like the extractor was fine. I'd fire a few more rounds with no issue, and half the time per mag have another case stick or not clear when ejecting. Went home and thoroughly cleaned. Looked at chamber and it appears the Volquartsen extractor has slightly "dented in" the part of the chamber where it grabs the case edge, causing a burr where the case sticks when fired. This is a guess, but there is bare shiny metal at that spot where there was no bare shiny metal before. Ordered a Tandemkross "chambermade" to clear out the chamber, and hoping this clears up the issue. Anyone else see this before or have other advice?
  5. At a length of 1.130, which I have loaded for Glock barrels, I've used 4.2g N320 with 180g bullets and 3.8g N320 with 200g bullets. These loads were with either lead/lubed or coated. Should give you a starting point. I know the 4.2g made major in my gun. I loaded the 200g for a friend based on my 180g load and search results. He ran 1000 of them through his Glock with no issues, but I do not have chrono results on them.
  6. I looked a while back and found nothing but the Dawson adjustable. Bought the Dawson adjustable, didn't like it, and went back to Dawson fixed. I didn't like the narrow notch either.
  7. If I recall correctly, the factory gas port for the Gen 2 is 0.469. My gas port via the plug is now 0.520. I have absolutely no issues with low velocity 147g loads. When my gas port was 0.625 with an open plug, I could easily run 110PF ammo with 124g or 147g bullets. I remember reading somewhere that the Gen 2 gas port was closed in to allow better function and less blowback with suppressors. Not exactly ideal for competition weapons.
  8. Lots of variables to digest here. But this is what I am doing. YMMV. Sig MPX G2, 8" barrel, registered SBR. Gas port opened to 0.625, but that was too much. ILWT plug added that cuts down to 0.520. That's about right. Factory port for Gen2 seems small for light loads. Tried 124g plated with 4.1g N320. Worked fine. Tried 147g plated with 3.4g N320. Also worked fine, but I could notice a difference in movement with the gun. For me, it moved less with heavy bullet/less powder. I've had people tell me that using 105g at high velocity in PCC is the best. For me, I like heavy and slow. Only one way to find out what works for you. Seriously, it's half the fun of doing this.
  9. Not saying this is possible again, but I caught a backorder at MidSouth in November for N320 at around $118 per 4#, limit two. Came out to about $270 total shipped. Keep an eye out, sign up for "in stock notices," and browse the spam email you get from sellers. Every once in a while something good is in there. The out of stock price now is $128 on the MidSouth website. ETA: It shipped in March. Five month wait.
  10. I agree on the Arredondo. I have 4 I've used for close to 10 years now for limited originally and CO now. No issues whatsoever. They have proven to me to be very durable. I have one Dawson, but it rubbed on the sides of the SJC magwell of my limited gun. Otherwise it was great too. I have one Taylor but do not like the screws needed to take it apart. I also have some TTI for my MPX. I cannot comment on their glock product, but their MPX product is top notch. I've dropped loaded mags plenty of times with no spontaneous disassembly.
  11. I do not have a preferred load for 115g for you, but I have used Titegroup with good success for .40 minor loads with coated bullets. If that is what you have, it will work fine for your needs.
  12. I've owned 10 different Glocks over the years and used 5 of them in competition. My G22 Gen4 has been hands down the most accurate, with my G21 Gen4 coming in second. I have won 2 GSSF guns with the G22. I can shoot easily ~4" offhand groups at 25 years, taking my time. So the 5 to Glock 25 yard target is no problem. The G21 Gen4 was close to being as good as the G22, maybe the same. I won 1 GSSF gun with it. The rest? My two Gen4 G35s were nowhere near as accurate. With KKM barrels, yes. With stock? Nope. My G17 and two G19s? Nope. I know it's not me. How can I shoot two guns so well and not the others? I think there is some variance in fit among Glock products. Reliability has been fine. Precision? Not so much.
  13. +1 for ILWT. I had my Gen2 gas port drilled out to 0.625, but to me that let too much gas through. Even sub-minor brass was kicking WAY right. I put in an ILWT 0.520 gas plug, and things are much more normal. Rifle functions great after, and brass doesn't fly to the next zipcode.
  14. Stock recoil spring? VV website shows starting loads for various FMJ 124 FMJ/HP between like 3.2 to 3.9. My experience with pistols is that around 3.9 makes a reliable USPSA minor. With the stock recoil spring, I'd think you would need to be in the USPSA minor range to have the pistol cycle reliably. Small frame shooters, in my experience, seem to not have the wrist strength to allow very light loads to cycle. You'll probably need to load 10 rounds each within a range and test. Also consider a Jager rod where you can use a 13# recoil spring. For defense, this is not the best way to go. But I'd start here and see if your shooter can handle the light loads with comfort first.
  15. What type of use do you have in mind? USPSA? Steel challenge? Certain PF? Starting with 9mm data makes sense, but let us know where you are going.
  16. I had the experience Eric suggests with a G34/35 length TGR - I don't remember if it was Glock Store or not. It was a Gen3 type with an adaptor for the Gen4 slide. My once reliable G35 was turned into an unreliable piece of garbage due to that setup. Putting the old Jager steel rod back in completely resolved the issue. I didn't even bother to try and list that for sale on here, as I wouldn't do that to anyone. PS, if you want to buy a knowingly bad TGR for a 34/35 length slide, with no returns and no complaints allowed, send me a PM.
  17. Another vote for HP-38, along with a note that I have had good luck with Titegroup in 38spl as well. Yes, double/triples loads are possible with it, but it doesn't seem to be position sensitive in the case. I've used those loads in revolvers and a rifle with good results.
  18. I have Arredondo extensions too. For non-metal parts, they are very durable. Bonus - if for some reason they don't quite fit a magwell, it is very easy to get out the Dremel or sandpaper and make things work.
  19. XTreme no longer has the the option of ~20 USPS shipping on 2k bullets. It's now ~27 UPS. Considering USPS performance, that may not be a bad thing. But for people who have purchased lately, it is not as good of a deal.
  20. Same here. Reminded me of trying to register for an area match...
  21. X-Treme used to ship 3k bullets in a box, but my last two orders, they shipped 2k per box. With not much more than some brown paper as a filler. And not much filler. When they had 3k in a box, the box was pretty full. With only 2k, there is a LOT of room for the bullet boxes to move around, especially with the sparse filler. I luckily did not have spillage of my bullets, but the interior bullet boxes were pretty beat up. The exterior box? Looked like it had been run over several times.
  22. Nice video. I wish I could run my MPX that well.
  23. They honored an over 1 year old back-order from early 2013 to mid 2014. At the original order price. They are definitely on my my buy list.
  24. Same here. Plus most of 1 pound of N340 I bought on a whim a few years back.
  25. N340 is too. Went looking myself to see.
