sandrooney
Why does the SM have such a light main spring ? I thought maybe it was because it was 9mm minor, but I just got a new 9mm Edge and it doesn't have such a light main spring. Could the comp have something to do with it ? It makes the trigger feel weird. Thanks, SR

sandrooney
I can do that. I was just wondering why, just curious I guess. Thanks, SR
EkuJustice
Light enough for a good feeling and heavy enough to set the primers off
sandrooney
I took out the spring and noticed that instead of putting in a lighter one STI just cut some coils off the spring. That seems like a cheesey way to do things on an expensive pistol. I bought the gun new from a well known dealer and it was sealed in the bag coated with cosmoline (sp) so STI had to have done it.. Anybody know if there is a reason to cut a spring as opposed to using a lighter one ? Thanks, SR
sandrooney
Randy at STI said that 15# is the lightest they can get so they tune them from there by cutting coils. Thanks for the response, SR
Paul-the new guy
That is good to know. The spring in my Grandmaster had also been cut and I wondered why.
