johoevasmatrix
Ok here is an issue I am having loading 45s the bullet seats crooked. I am using Berrys 185gr hbrn projectiles. My brass before it gets powder is .468 after it gets powder it's .479 the projectile is .595 long. I have to very carefully make sure the projectile is very straight when I set in on the brass before seating, and then sometimes it still goes crooked. This is 100 times more precise than with 38s or 40s or 44. Here is a pic of the dies and the finished product. If I load 100 rounds 10 need to be redone. What are your thoughts? These are the real bad ones that did not go to the crimp die.
addicted
are you belling the cases enough? Maybe add a little more by lowering the powder measure. I have only used dillon dies and with them even if the bullet is almost sideways they come out OK. Maybe the seating die has some junk in it? Youngeyes
Check that you are using the correct insert for rd nose bullets and not WC . Were these run thru the crimping die yet?
johoevasmatrix
Those were not seated, I have not heard about different seating dies, as far as the bell I have played with that also. I was having this happen more with more bell so I backed the powder die to where the bell is very slight
daves_not_here
It looks like you've got a Hornady expander die in your bullet seating station which isn't needed. The powder station bells (expands) the case for you on Dillon's. http://www.amazon.co...e/dp/B003HHIGQ8 The die in the crimp station looks like a seat AND crimp die. This means bullet seating is done in that last station. Check out the video on this page. http://ultimatereloader.com/2009/01/28/hornady-pistol-dies/ Give it a try without the expander die. You may have to adjust the inner plug to get the right seating depth. You could even install a powder check system from a 650 in that empty station. Reset the 4th station seating and crimp die to station three. Reset the bullet depth, using the center seating plug. Set the die to just take out the bell put in from the powder station. The type of bullet determines which inner seat plug you use. There should be two types available.
