Brian B
My daughter and her boyfriend are medical students from Canada and will be studying surgery as interns in a hospital in New York City. They will have B1 student visas. They expect to work long hours and return home late at night in the Bronks area. My daughter has been shooting pistols and revolvers with me since she was 10 and her boyfriend is also proficient. I have recommended they should protect themselves. Does anyone know how they may go about getting their CCW permits? Thanks

whitedog
Permits in the "city" are as rare as unicorn tears. If they can establish an upstate address or residence, it would be much easier. Also when I lived there 15 years ago, the city did not recognize all permits. I wish them luck.
GunBugBit
This was covered well previously; your daughter and boyfriend should abandon all exectations of getting CCW permits in NYC. This will not happen.
Onagoth
Even if it did, I thought you couldn't carry in a hospital in NY? I recall shooting an IDPA state match in NY with someone who worked at a hospital, said he couldn't carry. Not sure if he was from NY state though.
