Dead Buff
I just got a N.M. barrel bushing to replace the rattler I got in my P16-40. My barrel OD is 14.7mm and the bushing ID is 14.62mm. 0.08 mm undersized. The OD of the bushing is such that it will not go into the slide (by very little). Now the big Q: How do I fit the bushing? What is considered a perfect fit? Thanx for your help....
Kingman
with that little amount, I would use a felt polisher on a dremel and use a medium compound. Dremel does make Felt weels that are almost the exact size so its easier to keep it round. Be careful to keep it round, as with wrong tools its easy to get out of round. As for fitting to the slide, I smoke the parts(blue machine ink works well too) and press them into place gently. Look to see where its rubbing then work on those spots briefly, and repeat. Eventually you will see even wear all around, and you will be happy.
Dead Buff
How "loose" must the barrel be in the bushing to ensure accuracy and reliability?
AH6IP
I know you're working in mm there, but .001 over barrel O.D. is optimum. Don't forget the relief cuts for unlock/barrel tilt. And if that bushing doesn't work out for ya, try a Briley spherical bushing.
