38supPat
Don't forget to chrony your loads in different temps. My summer load of 4756 was around 8.8 at 20+degrees but my winter load was 8.3 at below zero and factored about the same

zatchmo
Wow, I had better go back and double check my notes. I could have sworn that 8.5 was making well over 170 out of my shorty. Now I'm second guessing that.
RH45
I use 4756 as my "back-up" powder for my .38 Supercomp, and EVERY lot number I bought, chronoed different.
Mat Price
I saw Dave Re say he had numbers between 8.3 and 9.2 grains with a 124 to get. 170 constant. I wonder why this powder is like this?

I wondered about this. I suspect I may have a hotter lot. 7625 is bad for lot to lot variance too.
Mat Price
Ok so 8.8 grains gave me a165. let's see what 9.2 grains gives me. At 1.25 not by choice lol. They left the seating die at 1.235 hit the tray at 1.25 lol Why are all barrels so slow!!!! Does it take anyone else 9.2 grains of 4756 to get over 170 power factor with 124 jhp? 38supPat
I could usually make 170+ with 8.5-8.8 but remember 4756 is VERY temperature sensitive and gets slower as it gets hotter. The same loads I used in the summer at around 172pf would be above 190 in the winter, I usually backed down to 8.0-8.1 in the winter and still had a major load.
