Skydiver
That's what I was trying to figure out back in Post #4. I also alluded to the indirect slide lightening benefit that the shooter would also get.
Walküre
i am thinking it would be fitting to re-evaluate the rules of the other divisions to, before they print the new rule book? You do realize that there are equipment (magazine carrier) rule changes slated for Production and SS in 2013, right? And did you miss the whole 3#-trigger-pull fiasco? Production is fine where it is. We don't need to go allowing even more deviations from true "production" pistols.
Nik Habicht
And, it wouldn't just be 40-9, it would be 45-9. Would that even be possible to achieve? I would have though that the difference in size between the different caliber's breach-face would make using a 9mm conversion barrel in a .45 pistol an engineering impossibility. Sure. If it doesn't work, weld and re cut the breech face. (which should also be perfectly legal, because we allow fiber optic sights and ugly guns). I think the welding might be legal, but the cutting is explicitly illegal. (D4 21.2b Milling of slide — only as required to insert sights.) Unless the rear sight will be sticking out of the breach face making the gun uglier. I can't find the word "welding" in the rulebook.... Hence, it's not on the list of approved modifications for Production....
