Small rifle primers in 40sw

I was wondering if it is ok to use SRP'ers to load 40 sw rounds? any advice. Thanks B

I know a couple of people that use Win SR in .40 cal.2011 guns. They do it so they only have to stock one primer. You might have to back off the powder a little. It also might depend on how light a main spring you run.

The small rifle primers are thicker and hotter, but fine to use. You need to back off your load and work it back up to your target velocity. You can't simply substitute one for the other.

I am running 155 plated with 7.5 power pistol powder. Book says I can go to 9grs. I still need to chrno this load to be sure it makes major, SR primers might help. Thanks B

SRP will work in 40, they should not be necessary. Don't try the MagTech SRP's with the D on them they are way too hard for the average pistol. I've used CCI, Win, and Federal SRP's when that is what I could get, also lots of Magnums when I could not get SPP.

I am low on small pistol primers. I have a lot of then, and my 3 gun long gun is a DPMS AR 10 S.
