Blacking out Glock factory sights

I can't stand the white dot and white U on the rear sight of my Glock 23. I intend to replace them with all black at some point but, at the moment, poverty dictates another solution. Is there a proven way for me to completely obscure the white while keeping the integrity of the sights? I tried crayon but want them completely obscured.

I think most people use a sharpie. Never bothered me but I've thought about doing it just cuz.

edit to add...

Just noticed the integrity part. If you wanna just try black sites without ruining them try some black electrical tape cut to shape to see if you like it. If it works for ya then black 'em out with a sharpie.

I took the plunge and used Testors flat black model paint. It is perfect. So far is has withstood my lightning fast draw. I don't think I will want to go back which is a good thing because I'm not sure it will come off. Any penny saved is more bullets and primers at this point so I think it was a good deal.
