planenut
What are the pros and cons of one over the other for uspsa competition?
DoubleA
From what I have heard, the advantage of a JHP is that they are more accurate due to the majority of the weight being around the outer portion of the bullet vs the core so that is better stabilized as it spins in flight. In my opinion, it is a little overkill for the distances that we generally shoot at in USPSA, but I've been wrong before....many, many times. FLSlim
What DoubleA said, plus no lead exposed (if lead exposure is a concern).
Jaxshooter
No lead is exposed on a CMJ (complete metal jacket). I agree the JHP will be more accurat. I use a 230gr JHP with Clays powder in my SS. Makes a very soft shooting clean load.
planenut
Thanks for the help. I might try JHP on my next order
gino_aki
If your gun likes jacketed bullets or you're shooting mostly at an indoor range I can understand your bullet choice but seeing how slow a 230 grain bullet needs to go to make major I wonder why you're not using cast or moly bullets. You'd get a substantial quantity more for the same price and similar if not better accuracy.
