rrflyer
Alright my search fu is weak. I recently bought a used open gun in 38SC with 2 popple holes. Previous owner said he thought he was loading 7.8gns of Autocomp with a 124gn but unsure of length. Can anyone tell me if this is in the ball park and a guestimate on length. I'm unsure where to start since this is my first non-standard caliber.
noylj
I show 6.2gn start and 7.4gn Max, with a 7.7gn for 170+ PF. Work up carefully from .38 Super starting loads. The .38 Super +P is 5.7-6.2gn Auto Comp.

Pezco
OAL on my guns is between 1.235 - 1.24, but it depends on how the barrel was cut. Don't know about the Autocomp.
lcs
Depending on the bullet type (round nose, JHP) my OAL is 1.232 to 1.240. I did not like Autocomp when I tested AC in my 38SC with 4 popple holes. Primers showed excessive pressure for the load. I believe you can find Autocomp loads for 9 Major here in the forums. 9 Major loads will be pretty close to 38 loads as far as amount of powder.
