MTSCMike
My M1S90 is shooting slugs about 3" to 4" low at 50 yards when sighting down the rib with the Hi-Viz Comp front sight so I'm thinking about adding the 10-22 flip rear to the barrel. Any tech advice appreciated... What dovetail cutter do I need? What is the proper depth to cut into the recessed rear rib on an M1 VR barrel? Is there a sight that is better than the Ruger? Thanks for any help...
Les Snyder
Mike... I did 3 M1S90s with Ruger 10/22 flip ups... I'm an amateur, and used a friends mill, and his Brownells front sight dovetail cutter which if memory is correct is the 65degree x .300" cutter... I did mine first, and was leery of the strength of he solder job on the rib, center of the dovetail 1 1/2" infront of the receiver on the rib flat .100" deep... the second was at .115" deep and last one .125" deep... support the rib when tapping the sight in.. to get elevation correct, I use the next to tallest of the triangular light tubes with IIRC the "tom buster" front sight.... gose
http://www.marblearms.com/rearSights.html The Marble rear sight is very similar to the 10/22 one, but is windage adjustable which makes it a little easier to get the windage right.
