loads for 1911 with VV N310

I have seen Loads for the .45 ACP using 200 gr Lasercast lswc's and up to 4.7 grs of VV N-310. In particular, 4.5 grs with this bullet is touted as being extremely accurate. My probem is that Lapua lists 4.0 grs of 310 as max with a 200 gr lead bullet. SO far, I've used up to 4.1 grs of 310 with no signs of excessive pressure. What's your opinion - are Lapua's figures very conservative?

Search for 200gr N310 Wilson Combat load on google and you will find lots of hits. That was Wilson's accuracy load they shot for test targets for the longest time. I does exceed Vit's published max load, but I've used it also and seen no pressure issues.

4.7 is a little hotter than necessary, 4.5 N310 under 200gr LSWC typically makes 825-850 fps which make IDPA 165 PF.

Regards,

James

I have gone up to 4.6gn. Anything over that leads to pressure spikes and is not an area to play in.

For best accuracy, 3.6-4.0gn is an excellent range. 4.4-4.6 for more power. Do not go below 1.250" COL.

I have used 3.8 gr. of VV N-310 with the 185 gr. Star LSWCHP for ca 790 fps. it's a very accurate bullseye psitol load.

Tried this load today using Zero's 185 LSWC-HP and 3.8 VV N310, 2.15 COL. Tried 10 rounds with almost no crimp, 10 with .03 and 10 with .06 using a Redding taper crimp die. Amazing how tight the group got with the tight crimp. I won't quote the size since I was shooting off a manual rest. I'm going to repeat this with a machine rest. Oh, this is a super soft load too.

Ben,

If you want a super soft accurate load good out to 25 yards try the following:

3.8 gr. HS-700X, Rem 2.5, 185 gr, Star LSWCHP at ca 715 fps.

Ben Diss:

What was the COL you used? It can't be 2.15".

Never have gotten consistently good accuracy from N310.

4.4gn of AA2 is very accurate in my .45s, though my most consistently accurate load with 185gn bullets (less than 2.0" at 25yds) is 6.0gn of Unique.
