For the benefit of those international shooters attending this match.

Rulebook will be 2004 edition.

Breechflags will be used.

Carry is vertically muzzle DOWN.

There is an elevation limit in place on some of the ranges for safety reasons.

This is approximately 30degrees from horizontal.Please check with RO if unsure (we dont mind and would rather not send you home)

No steel to be shot closer than 5 METRES.

you will require a minimum of 30 slug , 34 buckshot of 9ball SG/OO and 113 Birdshot max size UK no.5's. All will be available on site.

There will be 15 stages :

1 slug on papers only max range 30m

3 buckshot on paper and steels max range 40m

11 birdshot on steel and frangibles 3-30m

I'm happy to see that there is still a British Open in any IPSC discipline! I'll have to shoot Shotgun some day just so I can shoot when I come back to visit!

Dear all,

If anyone from this forum does wish to attend (apart from KurtM who plans to show us how its done) you need a Tempoary Visitors Firearms Permit to legally shoot a gun in the UK.

This can be easily arranged by contacting me on this forum and I will pass it onto the local police chief who will issue them asap.

If people wish to bring their own guns that is possible and again they need to speak to me or James asap, however they have to comply with UK legislation and that is simply any shotgun type with a barrel 24" or over and overall length not less than 40". Extended mags of any length, box fed guns and pistol grip stocks are not a problem at all in the UK.

TDean, nope there is no dedicated web site as there is only about in total 200 IPSC shotgun shooters in the UK, however this is the biggest and best and over 60 shooters will be competeing over the 3 day comp, shooting the whole course in a day. The range is about 2 1/2 hours drive from London and there is plenty of accomodation nearby. What James didnt say was the dates - they are the 11/12/13th of June.

James is involved in organising this annual match so give him a shout if interested. It costs about $35 - $40 to enter the match and flights from the US are about $600 return. If people dont want to bring guns there is a whole variety that they can use here that should be pretty close to what they have at home.
