Sarge
I'm working up an order from Powder valley and was wondering what the shipping weight is on 5K primers. I'm guessing powder weights as sold are pretty close to actual shipping weight? I want to get the most out of the shipping and hazmat fees. Also, is the 48 lb limit for the whole box or just what you put in it? Thanks
al503
I asked how many winchester primers I could get from them with one hazmat charge and they said 50K. When I got the box, it was over 48 lbs but they only charged one fee.
Sarge
Got an interesting email from PV: Kevin, CCI, Remington, Winchester, Tula, & wolf – 1#/1000 for Standard primers – 5K = 5# Federal Std primers 2#/1000 – 5K = 10# All 209’s any brand 3#/1000 – 5K = 15# Thanks John Powder Valley 800-227-4299 I guess all that unnecessary packaging in the Federals adds up. jar
If you order too much for one hazmat from PV, they'll call you and work with you to get as much as they can in.

Also, twice a year they waive the shipping charges on primers. I am on their email list and order when one or the other offer comes along. I believe the mininum is 5,000 primers, but then I never order less than that anyhow. Edited August 11, 2011 by Reshoot

Nothing against Graf and sons but: WSR 1K PV- $25 Graf- $33.99 8LB Auto Comp PV- $118 Graf- $131.99 On my order of 20K primers and 24 lbs of powder they would have to discount more than the fees to even come close Edited August 12, 2011 by Kevin Sanders

Whoa, that's a whole nother ball game! You inquired about the shipping weight of 5K primers. My comparison was based on 5K of CCI500 primers. Powder Valley (including haz mat and shipping): $190.67 Graf & Sons (haz mat waived and shipping): $174.95 I do believe we are on the same page now.
