BAKE
I need some help with reloading 7.62x39 using 123gr. bullets(PSP) and AA1680 powder. I haven't been able to find the right load data for this combination. Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated. Bake
whistlepig
Check Lyman 47 and 48. I'm pretty sure there is some data in there on this subject.
BAKE
I have Lyman 47. It has load data for 125gr. bullets and AA1680 powder. I was hoping to find something exactly for 123gr. bullets and this particular powder. These are the first rifle cartridges I've ever attempted to reload and I just want to be careful. I think I can use the data for 125gr. bullets, but I'm new to this and I'm just trying to be safe. Can I safely use the heavier bullet data? Again, any thoughts would be greatly appreciated! Thanks for the reply Whistlepig! Bake Edited June 26, 2011 by BAKE
frankge
I load 123-124g bullets with AA1680 with 26g for a max load, I'd try out 24g and go from there. I've reloaded close to 3000 of these for my AK and 7.62 AR

frankge
from Accurate - consider the max shown is for bolt-action rifles. You can and I have loaded them hotter but you'll see why I load at 26. 7 62x39 vs AP.pdf Edited June 30, 2011 by frankge

Thanks for the info. I see why you load at 26gr. As long as everything functions, I should be safe at 24gr. and 2.190 to start. I'll let you know what happens when I get to the range. Thanks again, Bake

Thanks again, Bake AA1680 is one of my favorite powders for use in the 7.62 x 39,I've found it to be the most accurate of the powders I tested in my SKS rifle loads using the Hornady 123 gr. BAKE
Finally got out to the range. I fired 10 rounds with 24 gr. with no problems. I also fired 10 rounds with 25.1 gr. with no problems. For my purposes I'm going to load at 24.5 gr. Just a plinker. No need to go any higher. Thanks for all the help! Bake
dauntedfuture
123 and 125 bullets are close enough in weight to use data. 125's are likley .308 and your 123s would be .310 or .

frankge
I've found the VMax's the most accurate so far. Graf's has them for ~17 per 100 which is not a bad price.

The V-Max is a good shooting bullet in my SKS rifles, this is a load I worked up in my Chinese SKS. I purchased about 500 of those when Graf started selling them. frankge
BTW - 22g works good for 147g bullets too!
wide45
I used to run Hornady 110 gr SP over AA1680 in my .308 barreled mini 30.
