J-Rob
Anyone know if these base plates are SSP legal for a M&P? I already know they'll fit in the box.
Jim Watson
As long as they don't add more than an ounce of weight, or have ejection springs, they ought to be ok. Edited May 6, 2011 by Jim Watson
Steve Koski
http://idpaforum.yuku.com/topic/6939/Aftermarket-magazine-base-pads--modifications--base-pads--SS IDPA allows competitors to replace the base pads with aftermarket products. These products must still allow the gun to fit in the box and not make the magazine weigh more than 1 ounce over the same capacity factory magazine. Aftermarket products must be suitable for all day continuous wear and not a competition only product. Examples of non-legal products would be brass base pads or base pads incorporating springs to aid ejection. IDPA allows competitors to make modifications to the base pads of SSP guns. These modifications must still allow the gun to fit in the box and not make the magazine weigh more than 1 ounce over the same capacity factory magazine. Modifications must be suitable for all day continuous wear. Examples of these modifications are reshaping of base pad or the addition of rubber/polymer bumper pads. Lnxgeek
10-8 claims they are fine: http://www.10-8performance.com/products/S%26W-M%26P-Base-Pad.html "Weight is .5 ounces (factory is .2 ounces). Pads are legal in all divisions of IDPA and USPSA."
PEC-Memphis
10-8 claims they are fine: http://www.10-8performance.com/products/S%26W-M%26P-Base-Pad.html "Weight is .5 ounces (factory is .2 ounces). Pads are legal in all divisions of IDPA and USPSA." 10-8 indicated they were SSP legal before it was actually decided by IDPA that they were legal. If you are looking for a shorter (front to back) base pad, the S&W compact base pads will fit on the non-compact magazines; and have (virtually) the same advantages of the 10-8 basepads. S&W sells the compact base pads for $1 ea + shipping (quite a bit less than the 10-8) Edited October 15, 2011 by PEC-Memphis
