P226 Frames

Was wondering if anyone can confirm as to when Sig Arms began production of it's beavertail grip frames. I

was thinking of using my P226 DAK in Production and IDPA and then I came across their website. Would really like one of the Elite models, even the Tactical models but probably not legal. The cost is kind of up there too? How realistic is the pricing on these models? Seems like I paid $700 years ago for the P226 DAK and it was hard to

find. Your thoughts?

I am not sure on the date the beavertailed frame was introduced.

The P226 Elites are in the 900 to 950 range right now. However if you want a beaver tailed P226 you can get one of the P226 USPSA editions here for 800.

Another option, although not necessarily an economically better one, would be to purchase DA/SA parts and replace the DAK parts in your 226 yourself. When I priced them, they ran ~$200. I'm not sure how much Sig would charge for the conversion if you sent it in to them. Depending on whether you want to keep your 226, you might spend less out of pocket to sell the DAK to fund the other one.
