muleymaniac81
Looking at my new Dillon catalog, I read an article about not being able to get over 30K rounds out of a 1911. Yeah, that's a ton of rounds out of 1 gun, but if a guy practices as much as we would all like to, that is actually not that unheard of. My question is, how many rounds can a person realistically expect before most, if not all, the parts are in need of replacement? I can only manage 100-300 rounds a week, but in 2 years, I could be up there in round count. Also, how many rounds do you guys shoot in a year? Thanks, Mitch
HRider
My old FrankenColt 1911 has 30k since I put it together five or six years ago with no noticeable wear. I know of a STI Trojan that has 90-100k and is still in good shape. A quality gun shooting a low pressure cartridge like .45acp will run for a long time. ed_henry
I have two 1911's in 40 S&W with over 70K through them one a SVI double stack and the other a SVI single stack. I have one 1911 in 38 super with ~30K that is still happy SVI double stack IMM. Good quality 1911's can go over 100K with minimal maintenance and very few parts replaced. ed
