Will this work?

We know cold weather affects ammunition, but does it affect the chrono itself? What if I left my gun and loaded ammo in a warm running car while I set up the chrono, then quickly fire off 5-10 rounds while the ammo and gun are warm. Will that give me a accurate warm weather chrono as long as the gun and ammo are warm/hot? Or is the chrono itself affected by cold weather?

Taking warm chrono out into the cold may cause some condensation on the IR lens covers which may screw the pooch. I wouldn't worry about using the chrono in the cold. Electrons like cold temps more than hot temps.

I'm thinking this is not true, I bring warm optics into the cold all the time, and they do not condensate.....

but when I come back in AFTER they are cold into the warm... yes, fog.

I bring my chrono out from the warm, and it works fine.

So will this method provide accurate results for Warner weather?

Differences in atmospheric humidity/temperature should be no "large" factor when measuring pistol bullet velocity at 10 feet. But, I've never tested this. If the powder/barrel temp is the same (no other varibles besides air temp), bullets should leave the muzzle at the same velocity (theoretically).
