usmc1974
I am a little confused here. What is the differences. I can't really see any. Thanks B
Action Pistolero
I was told that someone could grab the slide on a 92f and pull it off the gun. In other words, grab it from the muzzle and pull. The 92fs fixed that problem.
jsneff
On the 92FS, they put a larger diameter, round head on the left side of the hammer pin and milled a corresponding slot in the slide to prevent the back of the slide from coming off of the frame if there was a catastrophic failure.(ie the military slides cracking on both sides of the breach face and the rear of the slide impacting into the shooter.) As far as I know that is the only difference. Edited January 6, 2011 by jsneff
usmc1974
So, the preferred gun would be a 92fs over the f series.

From what I understand, if you had such a piece, Beretta will modify it for you (mill the slot) and send you the large hammer pin. They actually go through the trouble of stamping an "S" after the 92F rollmark to pronounce that it is now the "safe" version. Mac
dcarter
I worked in the armory for my last 3 months in the Corps and I can't tell you how many slides we replaced during that time frame. Always cracking on the slide just under the ejection port.
