Papa Joe
I am resurrecting my old SDB for 9mm practice loads. I have my 650 set-up or major and do not want to change it! I am having trouble getting the primer to seat all the way. I have adjusted the travel on the primer slide assembly and the primer punch is seated fully in the the assembly, yet the primer punch will not come up high enough to seat the primer fully. Any words of wisdom?
Pat Miles
If everything is adjusted regarding the priming system I would check that the shell plate is adjusted correctly. Minimum wobble. Don't forget the set screw for locking and unlocking the shell plate bolt. Pat
Papa Joe
I did double check that and here is no wobble and THANKS!
Pat Miles
All that being checked, give the good folks at Dillon a call. They know their machines. Pat
Papa Joe
I talked to a guy on Saturday and he did not have an answer. He was going to check with someone else and get back to me. Hopefully he can help? Does anyone have the proper length of the actual primer punch?
Dan Hefta
Is the crank handle hitting the press frame at all when you push forward? (seating the primer) If it is then the bushings are bad and you would want to replace them or send the press back to Dillon and they will tune it up for free. Good luck
Papa Joe
yes the handle is bottoming out against the primer feed body
Dan Hefta
yes the handle is bottoming out against the primer feed body That's probably it then, there is too much play in the crank handle.
Papa Joe
Thanks for the help! It should not be too difficult to put new bushing in.
