cgrivois
Got some range time in today behind the chrono testing some loads. Im looking for a load with BullsEye under 180grn Precision jacketed bullet. Want to get down to about 130-135 PF since Im shooting .40 against the 9mm guys in IDPA. After shooting today, figured out that I started way too high on the charge weight. I started at 4.4grns up to 5.2 grns at both 1.135 and 1.125 OAL. I shot five rounds at each charge and this is what I came up with. 4.4 grn BE OAL 1.135 Avg Vel 847.4 PF 152 4.6 grn BE OAL 1.135 Avg Vel 871.2 PF 156 4.8 grn BE OAL 1.135 Avg Vel 915.5 PF 164 5.0 grn BE OAL 1.135 Avg Vel 940.0 PF 169 5.2 grn BE OAL 1.135 Avg Vel 969.4 PF 174 4.4 grn BE OAL 1.125 Avg Vel 862.8 PF 155 4.6 grn BE OAL 1.125 Avg Vel 885.6 PF 159 4.8 grn BE OAL 1.125 Avg Vel 902.6 PF 162 5.0 grn BE OAL 1.125 Avg Vel 944.2 PF 170 5.2 grn BE OAL 1.125 Avg Vel 967.4 PF 174 Like I mentioned above Im looking to get down around 130-135 PF. Any one shoot this combo of bullet powder and have any data on it. Im thinking I need to start around 3.5 grn and go up from there. All loads had wolf SPP and mixed head stamps, out of a Glock22
yoshidaex
I don't have experience with Bullseye in 40 but before you settle on a 130-135 pf ish load, you may want to check for accuracy and proper gun functioning. I tried using titegroup in a 130 pf load and found my G34 would not function until I bumped it up to 135+ pf. Even at 135 the brass wasn't ejecting to far. I'm sure a spring change would have helped but I wanted to run my glock as box stock as possible.
cgrivois
yeah thats kind of where Im at as far as not wanting to change springs just make a load run. Im sure there are better powders but Ive got 8lbs of bullseye so when thats gone I may change up. Question is how low can I go without sacrificing reliability and accuracy. 98sr20ve
Your going to have to respring the gun to get it to run at 130PF. It's got a heavier slide then the G34 and even that requires a respring.
ncboiler
Interesting read on 40 Lite loads...... http://www.handgunsmag.com/ammunition/40lite_091806/index1.html

M-Bear
Do you have any win 231 on hand? I really like 3.7 gr or 231 behind a 180 gr bullet. Functions flawlessly in both my G23 and G35. I understand about having the powder. I have 16 pounds of power pistol and 12 pounds of #5 on my shelf. I never touch the #5 and the rate I am using the PP it is going to last me a lifetime. cgrivois
no just BE and a little of Titegroup. Twisted up a batch of rounds based on the article listed above, Ill try them in a action pistol match tomorrow night, but Ill have my regular loads with me incase these will not function my pistol. Ive been looking at reduced power recoil springs but can only find the spring. Does anyone sell a reduced power spring on a factory rod. Want to stay legal for IDPA. Cy Soto
Jager Products sell a polymer guide rod that is IDPA legal: http://www.jagerproducts.com/guideRods.html You can also remove the cap on the OEM rod and try a different weight spring. Edited to add: ISMI sells a flat-wound springs that will work either on the Jager or OEM guide rod. I used to run a 13 lb ISMI spring when I was shooting 40 Minor out of a G35.
