Front sight on a Rock Island 1911?

A friend wants to replace the front sight on his RIA 5" 45ACP. The sight is .165" tall and he has the rear sight cranked all the way down to hit the point of aim at 10 yards. He would like to replace it with a .200" tall sight but needs to know what front sight cut RIA uses before he can order a taller one. Anybody know what dove tail cut RIA uses for their front sight? I found no contact info at the RIA website or I would ask them.

Is it the dovetail? The RIA is a specific dovetail for their guns. I would call dawson and let them make a sight for the gun. They can make it the height and width he wants.

it's an oddball sight cut, but Dawson does have a sight that will work.

Pat: I think it is the same as the Spartan front sight cut. Dawson sells one for the Spartan now. I had to cut the dovetail on my Spartan 45 at Benny Hill's shop a couple of years ago Thanks, Eric
