Strick
I have a Dawson magwell now on my 9mm and a techwell also. I need to get a set of grips to use with the 9mm and like the feel of the techwell's but they are making the gun weigh right at 43 ounces. Are the G10's lighter? davehorn
Never handled the Techwells, but the two pair of G10's I have are pretty heavy. My VZ's are approx. 1 oz heavier than the rubber grips that came on my Kimber. The grips that came on my TRP are closer to 1-1.5oz heavier than the wood ones on it now. I know this doesn't really answer your question, but I have have found that G10s are on the heavier side. If you're looking for an aggresive grip for an ESP gun, try ERGO grips, they are light and inexpensive($25). Strick
Yeah that helps since my .45 is a Kimber and I have the rubber grips for that. Based on that the G10's will put me over on the 9mm the way it sits now.
RIIID
With the G-10 grips the back side can be hollowed out to loose some weight. Rich
Strick
Looking at VZ's site they have the weights listed. Comparing that to the Techwell grips I should be fine with paper micarta grips. I am going to go with the Operator and if I don't like them I can always use them to grate cheese.
EkuJustice
If you like the grips there other ways to loose weight with the techwell. A polymer MSH will get ya down a good amound and either a Aluminum guide rod or a GI setup
Strick
With the Techwell I can make wieght by using a plastic MSH. I just switched to the dawson on the 9mm because I am switching to Tripp mags and they seem easier to seat with the dawson.
EkuJustice
A GI guide rod will shave some weight. Or just get the extended base pads from tripp that are made for the extended mag wells
