TriggerT
I have been loading Montana Gold 230gr. CMJ bullets for a few years now, but will be trying West Coast bullets in the same weight, since they are significantly less $$. My questions is this. I have noticed that because of the shape of the West Coats bullets, they are pointier, I will have to seat the bullet deeper. I assume this will make the presure rise if I use the same amount of powder. Not that I am concerned with the pressure generated, it is a .45 acp afterall. However, would I then gain a little in velocity? I suppose I will just have to chrono and see, but I thought I would give some of you the chance to share you insight. By the way, I load to 1.25 with the Montana Gold, and if I use the West coats Bullets and don't change anything on the press the length ends up being 1.60. BIG JUMP. D.Hayden
You may see a big diffeerence in the plated vs. jacketed alone... Definetly a complete workup required - start lower than jacketed of the same weight.
