round won't strip out of mag. from slide lock

during a COF when the slide locks back and I slam a mag in it will release the slide and a round will not strip out of the mag. what could cause this and what would the fix be?

Slide going forward from you hitting the release, or because of the "slam-load" technique?

If the latter, then try the former first. It could be that the mag is still in motion or otherwise not properly seated when the slide actually releases - by a split second, but just enough to upset the loading process.

Two questions?

How new are your Mag Springs? I installed new Wolf +10% springs in my 75B mags and they need to break in, or will have feed issues.

How old is the recoil spring? Many feed errors are caused by weak Recoil springs.

Could be premature activation of the slide stop like walkure says. Also check the strength of mag springs, the bottom of the breech face, magazine lip width, and that your ammo (particularly the nose profile of the bullet) doesn't bump or interfere with the slide stop during loading.

How high is the round count on the gun, or how many rounds since things were replaced?
