When you hold your 870 try and maintain most of the weight and control with your right arm. This will keep a good solid weild to your shoulder. Your left hand/arm will control your gun and move it as well as cycle the action. Keeping your left foot forward will maintain your balance when firing as well as sucking up the recoil. Also you cycle the gun with the recoil, as all non-comped shotgun shooters still have to deal with the recoil, used it to your advantage. Good luck and God speed.
