LIBERTY
ok, the immaculate double on paper has been kicked until it is dead. now how about the double on a taped target. the scenario is, the target has been shot all day and taped, the shooter shoots and the hole is bigger than two bullet diameters due to the tape being blown/ripped, etc. you make the call. i say as an ro, i give the shooter both hits. what do you say?? BritinUSA
I would give the shooter the benefit of the doubt, but then immediately replace the target. It the target is that badly shot up then it should have been replaced by now.
warpspeed
Unless the RO saw the shot go wide, I say give 'em 2 of whatever it looks to be only one of.
Vince Pinto
Hi guys, Absolutely no "benefit of the doubt" - you might make one guy happy, but you might be screwing the other XX competitors and you'd be in breach of IPSC rules, which state: 9.1.4 Unrestored Targets – If, following completion of a course of fire by a previous competitor, one or more targets have not been properly patched or taped in preparation for the competitor being scored, or if there are extra scoring or questionable penalty hits thereon, and it is not obvious to the Range Officer which hits were made by the competitor being scored, the affected competitor must be ordered to reshoot the course of fire. If the targets are worn, they should be changed before problems can arise. The RO should be spanked and sent to his room without milk 'n' cookies that evening.
