I to have shot with Taran and Blake @ Norco. Both are extremly approchable and are fast tapers. Go figure they would shoot with a peon like me.

Hello: The best store bought base pad for the SVI magwell is the SVI base pads. You can grind down the stock plastic base pads on the edges to make them work. The best ones for that are the old style STI plastic base pads that are rounded on the bottom. Hope this helps. Thanks, Eric
As Eric mentioned, I use the "old" style STI base pads with a Krebs magwell. However, I have seen one shooter modify Bolen base pads by grinding a 45 angle with a drimmel tool. Also, SV makes a base pad with no modification that will work on my Eagle.

What do you guys think? Who makes the "best" or your favorite Bomar replacement sight? Ed Brown, STI, Champion, etc?
Tripp Research has the best replacement. A tad expensive but well worth it. Do a search and you'll see many positive post about it.

Go to Stagedesign.com They have some great ideas for courses
-
The biggest thing we run across is how experienced the shooters are? Have they shot a classifier in the past. Do they have enough magazines loaded or do they need to reload between strings. It also helps if the R.O. is familiar with the courses of fire. One of our members made a score sheet with the course of fire on the same page as the sheet you write down the time on. If you want a copy, P.M me and I'll e-mail it to you. It helps out alot.
20 minutes per shooter should be plenty of time.

I had the same problem with my Kimber last year. Had it at a gunsmith for a trigger job. With no ammo in the mag, the mags would fly out. When there was ammo in the mag, I had problems around 25% of the time.
Finally figured out the bullets I was using was hanging up on the slide release. After a quick (careful)dremel job on the slide release it fixed the problem. Hope this helps. I know I was tearing my hair out during the problem.

I heard thru the grapevine Virgil Tripp may start hardchroming again. Might be worth a try to contact him

Complete the COF. Once th S.O. ask if the shooter is done say "No". While keeping the muzzle in a safe direction, let the S.O know you are going to reach down secure the mag and place it in a pockett. Then tell the S.O. you are done. Of course this will probably earn a PE at half the clubs but you are still within the rules as some folks see it.

+1 on the Brazos if you got some extra cash. Bob is top notch on his pistol work.

My guess is California! Anyway, once you get the hang of changing calibers on the 650 you'll never regret purchasing it. I would recommend purchasing the large or small pistol primer setup. It makes it much easier to switch calibers. That and a quick caliber exchange and your in business. + Talking with the reps at Dillon helps enormously.

I make it a point to case gauge all my nickle brass. They don't seem to last as long as the brass cases.
-
I seem to get small primer 45ACP alot lately. I just set them aside and make dummy rounds out of them. For some reason I just hate throwing away brass.
-
In the beginning a 650 will look some what complicated. But after you get the hang of it, you'll never regret it. I think the hardest part is changing from one primer size to another but Dillon makes a kit that uncomplicates the switch. Dillon has a C.D. available that explains step by step procedures for changing calipers. Also, the folks at Dillon seem to be always available to help with just a phone call.

In the past years, they let you pick up your shooters packett up Friday afternoon. If you didn't make out by Friday afternoon, you could pick up your packett first thing Saturday morning. Or just have someone pick yours up Friday afternoon.

Hertz offers a 15 percent discount to USPSA members. I recommend getting the full coverage because alot of people in Cali don't have insurance. Since you are in the area, bring your blaster and shoot a match at Norco (JVdynamics.com). JoJo, Jimmy and crew put on a great match and are great people.

Just wear your red shoes and fly through the stages

Had to do the same on my Kimber Classic. I added a Ed Brown mag releaase with the button and a magwell. Trigger needed to be lightened but after that it workd fine.

Get some 231 from Cliff and call me for a load data
-
I loaded 5.3 of 231. results 173 p.f--754 fps. The results were shot from my Kimber. However, I think the bullets only weighed 228 grains (Zero)
-
Bullseye doesn't have a load for you. I'll take the bullets off your hands.

You probably had Jan give you the tour. She knows her stuff. I have taken the tour 3 different times. What impresses me the most is the atitude the employees have towards their job. Always happy and more than willing to answer any questions. That is why my loading bench has 3 650's sitting on it. I strongly recommend anyone in the area swing by and get a tour.

This is why I always keep a Rule Book (2005) with me when participating in an IDPA Match. To much interpretation from one club to another. If I disagree with a call I always break out the Rule Book and show the R.O. Section "Requirements for club affiliation." #9 "Clubs must make sure the competitors have the benefit of the doubt in all questionable circumstances."
Until HQ comes out with a new Rule Book there is way to many questions on "Cover Procedures".

I hate to open a can of worms but as one of the first shooters to join IDPA in 96 I always go to the current Rule Book. Page 9 "Competition Rules" states (NOTE: The rulebook posted on the IDPA website (www.idpa.com) will be the most current issue."). So my argument is RR's IDPA Forum is unofficial until I see it in a Rulebook sent to a new shooter. To my knowledge, clarifications are not sent out to new shooters. Of course I no longer compete in any major IDPA Matches until a new rulebook is issued. Just my 2 cents worth.
