I had thought about this, but the ring the front sight is on is only .065 thick, so I didn't think it would be possible or the cost would be astronomical.

Thanks, I think the bake on Cerakote, or IonBonding are the only things that are goin to work. The heat coloring is a great improvement, but it is a gray color. It kept my sight from washing out like it usually does as the paint wears away.

No, I haven't. That would be worth a try. The heat could be the reason the paint doesn't last. Or, it may be that I need a rougher surface on the sight and primer to get the grip for the paint to stay on better. I did clean with Acetone and prime once, but it didn't seem to last any longer than when I just reapply enamel paint.

Wrong on the nail polish assumption. I will give that a try.

I have to agree that I will not find flat black in nail polish. I had thought about trying to heat anodize the sight to a blue color. I would have to heat the sight to 550 F. The Anodize would have a shine to it though. It might show up better than the silver as the paint rubs off.

I have a Beretta 92 FS that has the front sight that is part of the slide. The rear sight is in a dovetail in the slide. The sights are stainless steel, with dimples drilled in them. I paint the dimples white and the sights black, this gives me a great sight picture. Unfortunately the paint rubs off very quickly. If I could keep the top edges of the front sight black that would be great. The last and best so far has been high temperature automotive paint. I was thinking of using ceracoat next, but it didn't look like they have it in flat black, plus I don't know if it is any more durable. The more expensive route would be to have the slide and rear sight Ion-bond coated. I am fine with the slide being natural stainless steel finish, but since the front sight is part of the slide I don't know if they could do the Ion-bond on just the sight. Any suggestions?

I don't want to thread jack, but I have a Storm lake 9mm conversion barrel for my G24c. It groups almost 6" right of where the factory G 24c .40 barrel groups at approximately 25 yards. Anyone else experience anything that drastic with switch barrels?

I own a G24c. I have a problem with the comp blast coating the white dot on my front sight with carbon and in a few rounds I have no dot to aim with. I am much slower using just a black front sight. I would like to solve this problem. Love the gun.

Remington A7's are Browning A5 copies. and they sell for much less than a Browning. My son owns one and after seeing this thread I think it may be the cheap way for him to try 3 gun.

I haven't had a chance to look at the Divisions thoroughly. I would be interested in a limited 10, or He-man Heavy Metal (I only have 10 Rnd Mags though). I would think that either of these could attract new shooters. Especially if they are tailored to purchasers of new equipment and 10 rnd mag laws. Ron W.

I was going to use M1A iron sights. No questions on that. A Westernfield 550 pump. Same gun as Mossberg 500 with 28" barrel modified choke, 5+1. I had seen posts that said a 22" barrel was maximum length. I was hoping they meant minimum length. Then I had planed to use a Glock 21, 10 round mags, but I saw posts about 45 single stack. I will have to get additional magazines for single stack. I only have 2 7 round mags for 1911. I would prefer to use the Glock since I already have 5 mags, mag pouches and holster for it. I tried a search for the rules on Heavy metal division's equipment requirements. After much reading I saw many confusing opinions of how it ought to be but, it is not clear what the rules actually are. I thought I had the equipment to enter this division, but after reading for some time, I now think I don't. I have never shot a 3 gun match. I was hoping to enter one that is coming up in less than 3 weeks.

I don't want to hijack this thread, but I keep seeing posts about replacing the spring. I am curious, what to watch for that would indicate it's time to replace my spring? Also about how often that needs to be done?
